No one should be allowed to play without a bassist. Ever.

Especially when they have just started playing and can't keep time, and you have to do all the rhythm work even though you are mostly a lead guitar player, and you have to find a rhythm guitarist and/or a drummer so that someone CAN keep time so that you can play your crazy solos.

Yeah.

Humm I never knew they didn't have a bassist. Maybe that's why I never really gotten into them? Or maybe I should have listend to more than a couple of songs... Ah well.

The Doors would use session bassists sometimes in their recordings but live (and even usually in studio) Ray would handle the basslines on keyboard.

Bassists are so underrated. Seriously, no one ever notices the basslines.

Listen to some Jack Bruce (aka God of Ze Bass), or Peter Cetera. Now that's what I call bass playing.

I realized there's a typo in my first post, which explains Lou's crazy posts afterwards.

I should read without a bassist, not with.

Silly me.

I'm not really sure what purpose a bass player serves, and why this is so essential they're saying you have to have a bass player or you're not in the competition. Could someone enlighten me on this point?

Anyways, I get the feeling the reason why they don't have a Bass player anymore, which Dash won't let Zep talk about, is probably related to Zep's stunt which got them all in trouble on Bespla in the first place.

I don't think the band understands this any more than you do. But it's in The Rules of this particular contest. Will we find out later on why? Only time can tell.

Time or us, the crazy ones that draw this whole thing. But we won't tell you this yet.

The Whos' "The Real Me" has my absolute favorite bass playing of all time, John Entwistle was a god (RIP).  Chris Squire and Geddy Lee would have to be up there too.

Yes the bassline in that song is GREAT. I love it when the bass is at the forefront. There's really no way you can miss it in that song.
This is how a bass should be played.

Love love love it.

Here's a song by Chicago with a great bassline:

Oh and the guitar rocks too XD

I don't have a favorite bassline but if one comes close to be, it's the one in Cream's Crossroads Cheesy

With a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
